About CaliberAPI

Structured data for the firearms industry.

CaliberAPI is a data project for the firearms industry. Our first dataset answers a deceptively simple question: which red dot optics actually fit which pistols, either directly or through an adapter plate. Today that means footprint compatibility across hundreds of pistols and optics, each cross-referenced and individually browsable.

Why we built it

The firearms space is full of accurate information that is hard to use. Compatibility lives in manufacturer PDFs, spec sheets, and forum threads that disagree with each other. We compile that information into one clean, consistent dataset, cite the sources behind each record, and keep it current so you do not have to chase it down yourself.

How we source data

Every record carries its provenance: the source links it was built from and notes on how it was verified. We would rather show our work than ask you to trust us. Compatibility is determined by footprint specifications and independent sourcing. It is never shaped by who we have a commercial relationship with.

Where this is going

Optic footprints are the first vertical. The long-term goal is a canonical, machine-readable data layer for the rest of the industry, including holsters, AR-15 parts, ammunition, firearm specifications, and more, available to businesses through a structured API.
