The pistol optic compatibility dataset
Machine-readable, source-cited compatibility data across pistols, optics, and footprint standards. Built for developers, retailers, and researchers who need structured firearms data they can trust.
Every compatibility claim is independently sourced and individually citable.
What is in the dataset
Each record links a pistol to an optic with fit type (direct or adapter), the footprint standard involved, and at least one source URL.
Manufacturer, model, optic-ready status, accepted footprint standards, and full compatibility lists.
Manufacturer, model, footprint, emitter type, reticle, weight, battery type, and the pistols each optic fits.
Standardized footprint names, families, mounting types, and the optics that use each standard.
Download sample data
Sample files are free to download and evaluate. They contain up to 50 representative records.
Data shape
A compatibility record looks like this:
{
"pistol_manufacturer": "Walther",
"pistol_model": "PDP F-Series (Gen 2 Optic-Cut)",
"optic_manufacturer": "Holosun",
"optic_model": "SCS-PDP-GR",
"footprint": "Walther PDP 2.0",
"fit_type": "direct",
"source_urls": [
"https://www.holosun.com/products/scs-pdp-gr"
]
} Fields shown are a representative subset. Full records include additional provenance, adapter-plate details for adapter fits, and retail offer data.
Methodology and provenance
Every compatibility claim in this dataset is individually sourced. Each record carries one or more source URLs: manufacturer specification pages, product listings, or official compatibility charts. We do not assert a fit unless at least one verifiable source supports it.
Footprint names are normalized to a controlled vocabulary (for example, "RMR" always refers to the Trijicon RMR pattern, not a brand-specific synonym). This makes cross-manufacturer queries reliable.
Records are tagged with an ingestion method: hand-curated foundation data, or pipeline-extracted data that was subsequently verified. Where a record has been corrected after initial ingestion, it is tagged accordingly.
This sourcing approach is the core of what makes the data usable for developers and retailers. You can follow the citation trail for any claim rather than taking our word for it.
Access and licensing
Sample data is free to download and evaluate. For full-dataset access or commercial licensing, get in touch. We are open to working with developers, retailers, and researchers who need reliable structured firearms data.
